Still Sunny in South Florida

Thanks to all of you who sent us the good weather!! Aside from 1 afternoon of rain and heavy winds, the sun has been shining. We have been enjoying typical warm and humid Floridian weather.

Last Wednesday, we left Northern Florida and made our way 250 miles south to Dade City, Florida. It was a nice, uneventful drive (we all know how much I love that😃!!), and we arrived at our next campsite in the early afternoon. We stayed at a resident owned community (which means there are a lot of full-time RVers), called Travelers Rest Resort, and it was absolutely lovely. There were lots of amenities- a pool, hot tub, shuffleboard courts, tennis and pickleball courts, "Mirror Lake", and a golf course, all on the grounds. Greg took advantage of the golf course one morning, and played a round with some new "friends". Later that day, before eating a delicious chicken dinner we were grilling, we took a walk around the beautiful lake, admiring the reflections of the palm trees in the water (aha..Mirror Lake). While we were strolling along, we heard..then saw a huge alligator, and a family of cranes-a momma, a poppa, and 2 babies...so cute!!

After our 3 nights stay was over, we packed up, hitched up the rig, hopped in the truck, and drove about 3 1/2 hours to Koreshan State Park in Estero, Florida. Another lovely Florida state park just south of Fort Meyers. It was here we had that afternoon of crappy weather, but we made do...we relaxed, got some school work done, and did a bit of tinkering. On one of our walks, we went to a Historic Site at the park, the Koreshan Unity Settlement. It was the site of a "cult-like" community that was established in 1894. The premise of it was quite far fetched, but it was interesting nonetheless. The next day, we decided to take a drive to Sanibel and Captiva Island, which were really close, even though the weather was a bit yucky😔. Once the clouds lifted, and the sun came back out, it was absolutely beautiful!! We took a walk along the beach, sat in the sand, even got our feet wet in the chilly waters. To celebrate my getting A's last term, we went to a delicious restaurant on the water for dinner last night. As per YELP, we ended up at Flippers on the Bay, just passed Lovers Key State Park, and had one of the best dinners since we've been on this journey.

This morning was moving day, yet again. We took off late in the morning, for a short drive back towards the east coast of Florida to John Prince State Park in Lake Worth. We'll be here for a few days, and meeting up with some friends and family along the way. We may even get to see a Met game...WhooHoo!!! Stay tuned for more updates!!!

Until next time...
We love and miss you all.
