Exploring the Carolinas....

It's hard to believe, but our journey is almost over😒...It is a bittersweet ending, but we are looking forward to enjoying the spring and summer back home, and to see all of you!!! We arrived at the Mount Pleasant/Charleston KOA, in South Carolina last week. We had a nice, big site, took a great nature walk around the lake that was on the grounds and enjoyed our 4 days there.  Unfortunately, cousin Bridgette didn't make it for our visit, thanks to the latest snow storm. We all were disappointed and cursed Mother Nature but are anxiously looking forward to the next time she can join us. The weather was kind of yucky, a bit chilly and windy during the day, but the evenings were lovely. Cousin Sean, who's enduring Navy training nearby, stopped by the campsite for dinner one night. He and his friend Coleman joined us for a delicious home-cooked meal of pulled pork. There was lots of catching up, and laughing as we sat around the campfire after dinner. One afterno...

Bumps, Humps, and Tables?!?!

Our time in Florida has officially come to an end, as well as the beautiful warm, sunny weather😔. We had a lovely few days in Palm Springs at the John Prince State Park Campgrounds. It was a nice drive, down Alligator Alley, enjoying the scenery and the many birds flying along with us. Wednesday afternoon, we drove to Jupiter, about 45 minutes away, to The Roger Dean Stadium, to catch my first ever Spring Training Baseball Game!! There we met up with our friends Frank and Tina, who flew down to hang with us (and stay with us later in the week) and to get away from the terrible New York weather. It was the NY Mets vs. the Miami Marlins, "batting it out"(haha) on a delightfully sunny Florida afternoon. The game wasn't all that exciting, but we had a great time nonetheless! After the game, Greg and I took the scenic route home and drove along the beach. There were huge houses (some beautiful, some NOT) on one side, and the clear blue-green water on the other side...absolut...

Still Sunny in South Florida

Thanks to all of you who sent us the good weather!! Aside from 1 afternoon of rain and heavy winds, the sun has been shining. We have been enjoying typical warm and humid Floridian weather. Last Wednesday, we left Northern Florida and made our way 250 miles south to Dade City, Florida. It was a nice, uneventful drive (we all know how much I love that😃!!), and we arrived at our next campsite in the early afternoon. We stayed at a resident owned community (which means there are a lot of full-time RVers), called Travelers Rest Resort, and it was absolutely lovely. There were lots of amenities- a pool, hot tub, shuffleboard courts, tennis and pickleball courts, "Mirror Lake", and a golf course, all on the grounds. Greg took advantage of the golf course one morning, and played a round with some new "friends". Later that day, before eating a delicious chicken dinner we were grilling, we took a walk around the beautiful lake, admiring the reflections of the pal...

Welcome to The Sunshine State!!!!

Hello everybody!!!! After leaving Louisianna last week, we took a nice leisurely drive (about 4 hours) through Mississippi and Alabama, and arrived at Big Lagoon State Park in North Florida, just outside Pensacola along the panhandle. It was a beautiful and very quiet park, and we enjoyed our relaxing lay-low days while we were there. The weather was lovely, nice, warm and sunny. Even though there was no beach😒 for us to catch some rays, they did have a walking trail that ended at a pier overlooking the blue serene water. One of the mornings, we decided we deserved a breakfast out before heading out for our "touristy" day. We ended up crossing the border into Alabama, which was surprisingly close (imagine the distance between New York and New Jersey), at The Ruby Slipper, a yummy breakfast place serving delicious Southern food. We stopped along the beach in nearby Orange Beach, AL to stick our feet in the nice, soft sand. We then strolled through a farme...

Livin the Dream from Texas to N'Awlins--The Big Easy (as the locals say!!)

Continuing to make our way back East... After our quick overnight stay in Fort Stockton, TX, we drove to our next Texas location at the Kerrville-Schreiner State Park, along the Guadalupe River. It was a lovely park, but unfortunately we had to cut our stay there 2 days short. The cell service and Internet were basically non-existent, both of which I need as I am coming to the end of a school term. We thought about going to see a movie, but decided to get some dinner instead. So, after consulting YELP, we ended up at Billy Gene's Restaurant along the river, for some delicious local cuisine.  The next morning we got up early and headed down I-10 to San Antonio for a couple days, to the same KOA we stayed at on the way out. Texas had some major rain storms earlier in the week, and as we were driving through the evidence of flooding was everywhere. The KOA was not excluded, and as a result we had to change our spot once we arrived. The Rodeo was in town, the campgrounds were ...
