BahBye Arizona!
Hello everyone!
Happy Belated Thanksgiving to all our beloved family and friends!!! 🍗
For those of you braving the messy winter weather, stay warm, dry and safe! ⛄ ⛅ ⛈
Well, we have ended our 6 weeks stay in the beautiful state of Arizona. We hated to leave but it was time to move on to our next destination. But, I need to backtrack a little bit...
Our mystery guests?!?!? A couple weeks ago, the gorgeous Debbie and handsome Jeff with Baby Prince Jonah came to Cave Creek, AZ to visit with us for a long weekend! Greg and I were over the moon to get some quality time with them and we did just that!! Fun by the campfire (since the Arizona fire ban had been lifted), walks around the park, and lots of oohs and aahs over Jonah. One night, while Mom & Dad went to explore nearby Sedona, we had little Jonah all to ourselves. He was an angel (as always) and really became attached to Uncle G! The boys even enjoyed some guy time, getting the truck washed (Jonah loved watching from inside the truck!) and a quick trip to Home Depot. We spent an afternoon at the Phoenix Zoo (which is not the Bronx Zoo, but lots of fun nonetheless!). Jonah seemed a bit overwhelmed but he was an absolute trooper. One afternoon, once Deb & Jeff returned, we all took a ride to nearby Old Scottsdale. We walked around the shops, grabbed a delicious lunch and enjoyed the great company and lovely scenery. It is always difficult saying goodbye to family and the ride to Sky Harbor Airport was no different. Our only solace is that we know we will see them again soon.
Once the kids left, Greg and I stayed another week in Cave Creek, exploring the area and visiting with Aunt Lorraine and Uncle Ralph, Dina, Danielle and Denver (we missed you, Rod). It was then time to head back down south to our old stomping grounds in Apache Junction. We stayed there for another week or so, hanging out with Aunt Lynn and Uncle Tony. We always have such amazing times with them!! The night before we left Lost Dutchman State Park, we invited them back to the camper for some yummy chicken tortilla soup (handmade by Greg) and tacos. Jackie and Jorge joined us as well...the more the merrier we always say! It was a little chilly but we sat around the campfire talking and laughing the night away.
Next stop...Chez Tarantola! We spent a couple nights in Aunt Lynn and Uncle Tony's driveway which enabled us to spend a lot of fun and wonderful times with them once again. Thanksgiving was delightful as we were invited for turkey dinner at Jackie and Jorge's house. All of our Arizona family was there...Cousins Jackie, Jorge, Peter, Crystal, Shayla, Jacqueline and John, Kathy, Vanessa, Victoria, Anthony, Uncle Tony and Aunt Lynn and a whole bunch of adorable puppies!! Great food, wonderful people, and an all-around wonderful time!! The next morning, while I was doing schoolwork, Greg took a ride back up to Phoenix to visit Uncle Ralph and Aunt Lorraine. Although I was bummed I couldn't make it, Aunt Lorraine made it all better. She sent Greg home with some delicious homemade pasta CiCi and a fabulous walnut coffee cake!! Some post-thanksgiving fare!! Thank you, Aunt Lorraine!!! The night before we left Chez Tarantola, we went down the road, to one of Aunt Lynn and Uncle Tony's favorite joints to listen to some live music, enjoy some good food, and get some last-minute family time in. Again, it was rough to leave and say goodbye, but it was time to move on. Plus, we didn't want to wear out our welcome. Do not fret our fantastic Arizona family...WE WILL BE BACK!!!
Our last few nights in the Grand Canyon State was spent in Benson, which is about an hour East of Tuscon. There was not too much to do around the campground, so we took the opportunity to lay low for a couple of days. Greg got some chores and tinkering done while I frantically finished up an assignment that I had to submit before a midnight deadline.
This past Monday morning we packed up and headed east about 240 miles over the Arizona/New Mexico border. We arrived at Leesburg Dam State Park just outside of Las Cruces in Radium Springs, New Mexico in the early afternoon. We visited this beautiful park on our last big trip a couple of years ago and absolutely loved it. And...it is just as stunning, quiet and peaceful as we remembered!!! We'll be here a few days with plenty of time to relax and explore until the time comes to travel South. Stay tuned for our next destination...
Until next time,
We love and miss you all!!!
Laura & Greg
And now for your viewing pleasure...LOL...
