Destination...Cherry Blossoms!!!

First...Happy Easter and Azizan Pesach to all our beloved friends and family!!! We hope the Easter Bunny came your way, and the matzo is treating you well 😊.

We are slowly getting back to our "home base". In an effort to greet us with open arms, Mother Nature is definitely welcoming us back home with typical East Coast weather...as it is snowing right now, out the window here in Pennsylvania!!!!

Backing up a few days...our last stop in North Carolina, at the Falls Lake Recreation area, was lovely. Our campsite was on a hill in the woods overlooking Falls Lake. It was the backdrop for an absolutely beautiful sunset I was finally able to capture. One afternoon, while I got caught up on school work, Greg met up with Jimmy, an old buddy from work, who had relocated nearby. We had a couple campfires while we were there, and enjoyed the quiet forest.

Next we made our way closer to the cherry blossom festival! We drove north to Pohick Bay Regional Park in Lorton, Virginia, about an hour from D.C. It was a beautiful park that was our home for the next couple days. We spent the entire day on Saturday, roaming and exploring Washington, D.C. It had always been a dream of mine to see the cherry blossoms trees along the reflecting pool, and while those trees were not yet in full bloom, there were plenty of other trees in the city that were!!! They are absolutely beautiful. There was a festival of sorts going on while we were there, with tons of food trucks, from all over lining the busy streets of our Nation's Capital. Also taking place on the Great Lawn, was a kite flying festival, that was quite an amazing site to see as well. We made our way into one of the many Smithsonian Museums, The American History Museum, walked around and expanded our knowledge😮of America. I saw some of the paintings that I am studying in my Art History class this term, which was pretty cool!! We spent a quiet Easter Sunday in the camper, relaxing and enjoying each other's company.

Monday morning it was off to our next destination...the Jonestown/Hershey KOA in Jonestown, Pennsylvania. The campground was mediocre and in great need of some love, as we felt it had lots of potential. The weather was chilly, raw, and rainy, and a bit snowy too, and we didn't get to explore the area much. We took a ride to the city of Lancaster since it was only about an hour away from the campground, and walked around for a while. We also found out that most places in the area are closed on Mondays😠, so our "touristy" day was cut a bit short, and we went back "home" to relax and bundle up in the warmth.

We are currently in Lewisburg, PA, about 1 hour north of Harrisburg and Williamsport. We are here to have some preventive maintenance done to the camper, so we are ready for our next season...on the beach on Long Island. The weather here has been pretty yucky, cold, windy, rainy. The sun finally came out this afternoon, so we ventured into town, checked out some antique shops, and enjoyed the quaint area with it's old architecture and history. We grabbed an early dinner at The Rusty Rail Brewery, a local restaurant in Mifflinburg. It used to be an old buggy warehouse and factory, turned into a bustling bar, restaurant, brewery, event space...it's huge and very beautiful. Right now outside the window, there is snow falling..."It's a friggin' blizzard.😣" Greg says. Not really, but we do not like it!!!

Tomorrow is moving day once more. We are heading out early, picking up the camper, hitting the road and making our way to our next stop...

Until next time...
We love and Miss you all!!
